The tribe
The tribe by Cornelius Vandeputte is a composition of four bronze sculptures, each figure embodying an aspect of communal harmony, wisdom and tradition. The four protagonists of this artwork are:
– The Chieftain, the central figure of the tribe and finished in a golden patina, symbolising leadership and authority. He is a complex character who connects tribe members and bridges the earthly and spiritual worlds,
– The Wise woman, the elder of the tribe, and a keeper of ancient wisdom on spirituality, healing and harmony,
– The Bard, a storyteller and cultural cornerstone of the tribe, preserving traditions and navigating the community through his captivating tales and interpretation of the stars’ movements,
– The Shaman, maintaining balance in the tribe through shapeshifting, communicating with and embodying various animals and spirit form.
Together, they form the foundation of society, bringing harmony and peace, especially in times of crisis.
